Iron supplement for improved red and green coloration of pond plants
• Helps improve red coloration of leaves in aquatic plants.
• Helps correct deficiencies which cause yellowing, transparency, and death
of aquatic plant tissue.
• Two-tiered approach to iron supplementation (provides both ferrous (Fe2+)
and ferric (Fe3+) iron) consists of one ingredient to deliver immediate iron
and another ingredient that slowly releases iron during daylight,
maximizing benefits to aquatics plants.
• Over 50% stronger than most competing products.
Iron is an essential element for plants, both aquatic and terrestrial: it is utilized in the production of chlorophyll and activates some enzymes that take part in metabolic reactions; it does all of this, however, in very small concentrations. Iron is considered a micronutrient, and it is often the limiting element in plant production in some aquatic habitats. A deficiency of iron is physically apparent as plant leaves which appear yellow or even somewhat transparent. In later stages, the leaves eventually disintegrate under gentle water current or disturbance. While this condition may also be caused by other chemical and environmental factors, it is seemingly most often the result of insufficient available iron (note that K, Mg, and N are also important).
Brightwell Aquatics Florin-Fe delivers iron in two steps: immediate and delayed. This is accomplished through natural biological and photochemical reactions taking place within ponds, and results in a more stable iron concentration than is attained with other methods of liquid iron supplementation.
Caution: Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption.
Instructions and Guidelines
Shake product well before using. Store indoors, above 50°F. Add 1 capful (5 ml) of Florin-Fe per 50 US-gallons in pond or water garden every other day. When used in this fashion, 500 ml treats up to 5,000 US-gallons (18,927 L). Maintain the iron concentration within a range of 0.05 - 0.10 ppm.
Optimal results are obtained when dosed daily or every other day; noticeable changes in plant coloration occur faster when dosing at this rate. Less frequent dosing leads to water chemistry fluctuation, and may encourage the growth of algae if the phosphate and ammonia/nitrate concentrations in the pond or water garden are in excess.
